t’airra champliss (she/they) is a denver-area (ȟeská otȟúŋwahe, Lakota) based crochet fashion designer whose work explores the intersections of expression, advocacy, heart-led living and reclaimed freedom. formally educated with a BA in computer science and gender, women’s & sexuality studies, they draw upon interdisciplinary perspectives, experiences and skills that highlight the interconnectedness of seemingly unrelated topics. they continue to curate their multifaceted skillset as a web archivist, birthworker, community caregiver and spiritual being through self-taught and community-taught pathways.

ANCESTOR APPRECIATION

thank you to my beloved ancestors, known and unknown, related through blood and by love, who have made it possible for me to be. i hold deep reverance for all those that came before, those with us now and those arriving soon. i am a proud descendant of enslaved and freedom-seeking africans who empower me to stand in my divine power in the face of ongoing global anti-blackness.
may the freedom, justice, joy, rest, love and peace we are collectively owed arrive swiftly.

LAND GRATITUDE

with deep respect, i acknowledge the tséstho’e (cheyenne), hinono’eino’ biito’owu’ (arapaho), núu-agha-tʉvʉ-pʉ̱ (ute), and all indigenous peoples whose territories i work and live on. i extend immense gratitude to the earth itself and all native peoples, communities, cultures and tribes of turtle island and abya yala who continue to steward these ancestral lands.
